How to Manually Install the Microsoft Access 2010 Runtime

If you see a message that the "Microsoft Access 2010 Runtime" is missing from your computer when you try to start Cashbook, then we recommend that you try to download and install this directly from Microsoft's website. See below:-

Please get a friend or computer person to assist if you're unable to follow these steps.

  1. Click here to download the "Microsoft Access 2010 Runtime"
  2. You will be given the option to download either of these files:-
    • "AccessRuntime.exe"
    • "AccessRuntime_X64.exe"
Important: Only choose the "AccessRuntime.exe" option (even if you have a 64-bit computer). See example
  3. When the download has finished, double-click the "AccessRuntime.exe" file to install it
  4. Click here to download the "Microsoft Access 2010 Runtime - Service Pack 2"
  5. When the download has finished, double-click the "accessrtsp2010-kb2687444-fullfile-x86-en-us.exe" file to install it

You may be required to reboot your computer after this, but after that, you should be able to use Cashbook Complete as normal.

Alternative Approach

If you're unable to install the 2010 Runtime following the steps above, then we recommend that you install the "Microsoft Access 2016 Runtime" instead. See below:-

  1. Click here to download the "Microsoft Access 2016 Runtime"
  2. You will be given the option to download either of these files:-
    • "accessruntime_4288-1001_x64_en-us.exe"
    • "accessruntime_4288-1001_x86_en-us.exe"
Important: Only choose the "accessruntime_4288-1001_x86_en-us.exe" option (even if you have a 64-bit computer). See example
  3. When the download has finished, double-click the "accessruntime_4288-1001_x86_en-us.exe" file to install it

After completing those steps, you should be able to run Cashbook as normal.
